JOURNEY THROUGH SILENCE
Koshanin’s third, award winning, solo album featuring original compositions and his unique arrangements of select traditional folk songs from the Slavic lands which give them new life in a non-traditional context. The album abounds with odd time signatures characteristic of the music from the Balkan region in southeastern Europe.
In June 2026, “JOURNEY THROUGH SILENCE” has been awarded with the
“FREQUENCIES PRIZE – INTERCULTURAL PIANO”
by the PIANO MONDO Organization from Nyon, Switzerland (affiliated with the International Conservatory of Music in Switzerland: CIM – Conservatoire International de Musique – Suisse).

Koshanin, Serbian pianist
Winner: Koshanin
Born in Serbia and based in the United States since the 1990s, Koshanin is a pianist, composer, and arranger whose music brings together Balkan traditions, Mediterranean influences, jazz, and contemporary composition. Through his solo piano works, he transforms cultural heritage into deeply personal soundscapes.
His third solo album, Journey Through Silence, further confirms the richness and originality of a musical journey well worth exploring.
The Frequencies Prize is awarded to him for his exploration of altered piano techniques and alternative tuning systems. Through his albums, often released in both standard and 432 Hz versions, Koshanin has developed a distinctive approach to sound, resonance, and listening.

15th Annual SALEM WORLD BEAT FESTIVAL 2012
